Case Study: BS4142 noise assessment for an air source heat pump (ASHP)


Introduction

Milton Keynes Council requested a BS4142 noise assessment report for the planning application for an air source heat pump (ASHP) for a residential dwelling in Newport Pagnell.

MCS020

Milton Keynes Council declined the MCS020 application due to the ASHP sound level exceeding the background sound limit by more than the permissible margin.

BS4142 noise assessment report

The noise level of the ASHP was 6dB below the background level at 1 metre from the nearest sensitve receptor.

Planning permission granted

Milton Keynes Council granted planning permission for the ASHP within two weeks after the noise assessment report was submitted. Thank you.
